Clean Windows - First Impressions Count
Although it’s often overlooked, you’ll be amazing what clean glass can do for the appearance of your building!
Generally, exterior glass needs cleaning at least twice a year, although environment has a big impact e.g. buildings close to main roads and those close to the sea.
There are some peculiarities associated with exterior glass cleaning which require experience and skill.
-
Most of modern glazing contains a ‘soft’ side which needs to be treated carefully to avoid scratching and other damage. Experience is required. The days of taking a scraper or razor blade to the glass are long gone.
-
When glass has not been cleaned on a regular basis, there may appear to be drops or dribbles down the glass, the results of air pollution which can result in permanent damage to the surface. Regular cleaning is required to prevent this developing.
Cleanaway uses specialised window cleaning sub-contractors for glass that is difficult to access or is suffering from excessive soiling.
Internal glass is both the interior of exterior windows and partition glass. Both need regular cleaning. We recommend a minimum frequency of once a year for internal glass and a minimum of once every two years for partition glass.
However as part of general cleaning we remove finger marks on partition glass. If the entrance doors are glass they are ‘spot’ cleaned daily to remove hand and finger marks with a spray solution and a clean soft cloth. Intermittently, a soap wash and rubber edged squeegee blade is required to remove any chemical build-up.
